Sports – Physical Activity For Health & Wellness

Sports are physical games and competitions. These fill the need for competition, physical exertion and play. In a way sports can be seen as an expression of 사설토토 our social aspirations and inherent human desire to be active, to try something new. Our ability to pursue active sports reflects a part of our psychological make-up, our drive and motivation to succeed in our daily lives. All sports are competitive. In the early 19th century, sports were mainly for men. As time passed, sports developed into a socially acceptable for women as well. The Industrial Revolution spurred on the development of new sports such as cricket, golf, tennis, basket ball and the horse-riding game polo. The demand for new games and sports increased and a new era of professional competition was ushered in. A new set of rules and regulations governed international sporting events.

The 19th century witnessed a tremendous development of new sports. Cricket, whose popularity had grown during the Industrial Revolution, became one of the most popular sports at that time. The popularity of cricket grew even further when cricket players started moving from one country to another to join professionally organized teams. The first sports event to take place in the UK was the soccer, which was played between British Army officers and civilian athletes during World War I. The first international football tournament was held in Uruguay in FIFA (Federation of International Football Associations) World Cup qualification tournament in 1930.

Basketball, which was earlier played only among soldiers, became popular among urban youth due to the presence of famous basketball players like Joe Montana, Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan. Professional basketball matches, which used to be held in UK stadiums, were shifted to other countries such as America and Canada due to the difficulty in flight and the high cost of accommodation for spectators and players. The National Basketball Association (NBA) began international basketball tournaments in the late 1960s, with the hopes of promoting basketball to the international stage. The first season brought little success and was marred by a lack of participation from American teams. With the advancement of technology, the NBA introduced a home playoff series, which gradually added more American cities to its list of host cities.

Sports have achieved a great deal of global popularity, as evidenced by the huge amounts of money generated by professional sports. There are numerous myths and misconceptions about sports in the US. One such myth is that there is no connection between physical education and sports; another myth is that all athletes who earn millions earn it by cheating. In fact, there are many athletes who have achieved great success in spite of lacking physical fitness. It is this myth that need to be debunked, and modern athletes are making a statement for the rest of the world by participating in Olympics, football, baseball, basketball and softball.

Association football is a very physical sport, but it does not involve excessive amounts of hitting or physical activity. A match is made up of two teams of eleven players each, with the coach putting in a lot of effort to try and get his team to score more goals than the other team. Unlike rugby, tennis and hockey, in association football there is no regulation of body contact, so players can use their elbows, knees and head butts as much as they want. The point of the game is not for the player to score every time he makes a tackle. An aim of the game is to keep the opposition from scoring more goals than your own. Because of this, a strict physical fitness routine is essential to the success of a sportsman.
